There is nothing wrong with being happy & content… unless we are too easily satisfied
Have you experienced times in worship that you can’t explain? Have we put those times in a box of “Once every few years” or “Those times when He showed up”…
I, too, have tasted hints of something more profound, and I want to know whether these glimpses could become part of daily life. Innovations and discoveries have already changed how we live; consider how electric lights revolutionized our days. What was once unique, mind-blowing, and impossible is now just so… normal.
What if we brought that perspective to the context of worship?
What if there's more to worship than well-performed and produced songs? We all know worship is more than that, but do we behave, prepare, and act like we actually believe that?
Have we become too satisfied with creativity, musical excellence, production, performance, views, and subscribers? These things aren't inherently wrong, but they distract us from what's truly possible.
MARTHA, MARTHA…
C.S. Lewis once talked about us being satisfied with mud pies while sitting on the edge of an ocean; have we lost sight of what could be?
We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.
Applied to our worship realm:
Are we half-hearted creatures, pre-occupied with songs, scheduling, and production when facedown, transcendent, glorious, other-worldly, throne-room, presence-based, corporate worship encounters with Jesus is offered to us… Are we far too easily pleased?
There’s nothing wrong with being happy & content, but what if there’s more?
I don't claim to have all the answers, but I want to explore the possibilities. To ask "what if?" To learn about worship beyond its traditional confines and seek out unfamiliar expressions. Life is about experience – should we not pursue greater ones?
There's more than just getting through a set list or singing for a congregation. I want to explore new territory in worship and ask the Lord to lead me. This is the value I seek: pushing boundaries and finding the edges – not merely creative or expressive ones but those aspects of worship that we're not familiar with but should be.
What if what should be, could be?

What lies beyond our constrained horizons? What if we cast our nets on the other side of the boat?
What if there's more?
Let’s go find out; let’s go explore.
Let’s be a generation that shows that there’s more.
